Lease term
HDB sets a minimum lease term, and the requirement for a whole flat differs from renting a room. For the exact number of days, check the official HDB page before you sign.
Number of occupants
Each flat has an occupant limit that depends on the flat type. If more people live there than the limit allows, the tenancy may not be valid.
- Ask how many people live there now and how many will move in.
- Put the number of occupants in the contract.
- Do not accept a spoken promise that a few more people are fine.
When renting a room
For a room, what counts is the total number of occupants in the whole flat, not only your room. Ask how many people live there today.
